This little mini art quilt is about 12 x 17 inches. I made it for my middle daughter, Lynette, for her wedding. The pattern is called Magpie Girl by Carrie Payne of BelieveMagic. I love all of Carrie’s art and have made several of her art quilts. I blogged about another one (also made for Lynette) here.
Lynette is one of those girls that has been planning her wedding reception since she was a young teen. Because of Covid, she did not get the wedding or reception or even honeymoon that she wanted, but they are making fun plans for after-Covid!
Anyway, this quilt is filled with things that have meaning for Lynette. I loved using the stain-glass Harry Potter fabric for the background. It was perfect! And do you see the mini Harry Potter book tied to her waist? That represents not only her love for all things HP, but for the book review blog she wrote for many years. (I hope she’ll be able to get back to it one day!) If you’re interested, I got it here.
This photo shows a little more detail of the various items sewn onto her skirts. Each one represents and interest or event or thing from her past. I also added beading around the neck and across the top of the veil. That veil was the trickiest part of the whole quilt!
The quilting was simple. I didn’t want it to detract from the girl. Most of Carrie’s portrait works have some kind of message or quote written in the background, bu I chose to forgo that with this one. I didn’t feel it needed it with all of the other words/items.
This was so much fun to make! If you like it, I’d encourage you to check out Carrie’s other artworks and patterns! Meanwhile, enjoy these two photos!
And if you need a good wedding photographer at a very reasonable price, I can definitely recommend That Mom With the Camera!
They are lovely photos for your daughter. That is a fun wall hanging as a memory of her wedding.
