I just wanted to write a quick post to show off my Hunter’s Star quilt made for my nephew and his new wife! I am pretty happy with the way it came out, though the quilting is a little rough in places.
I affectionately called this one “Wedding Quilt #3” while it was in progress for obvious reasons. I’ll show off the other two wedding quilts later!
I used my new Accuquilt electric cutter with the Hunter’s Star die. I don’t think I would have ever tried this pattern if I didn’t have it. With it, and a bit of starch on the fabrics before cutting, everything went together very smoothly with very little stretch on the biased edges. I don’t get any money if you click on the link. I don’t have any affiliation with accuquilt, but I do love their products!
Here’s the back:
I keep my quilting pretty easy and not dense since I do it all on my Bernina 440. I love beautiful, fancy quilting, but with my fibromyalgia, it is just not happening. Pushing and pulling that bulky quilt through the narrow space of the machine is just too painful.
I think the beautiful batiks really make this quilt! Using batiks also made sewing it together easier. With no right or wrong side, I could use the templates interchangeably and not worry about my star points coming out wonky. The colors were the choice of the bride and groom and were not what I would’ve chosen, but I love how it looks!
Here is the happy couple checking out their new quilt. Please excuse the photo quality; this was in the evening, and Rachel is taking the photos with her iphone. I used a vintage, embroidered pillowcase for them to store it in.
