Mug Rug finishes and Farm Girl Vintage

The armadillo mug rug is done, but I have doubts that it would wash well, and since that is one of the requirements for the swap, I decided I would make another one to send along, too. Here it is:

It didn’t take long at all, and it was fun to make.

My next project, aside from finishing this Star Wars illusion:

is to work on my Farm Girl Vintage by Lori Holt of http://beeinmybonnetco.blogspot.com/. I did a swap in which I received 7 different 12 inch blocks and 7 different 6 inch blocks. In turn, I made eight 6 inch cat blocks and eight 12 inch house blocks to exchange. This is what I have to work with 6″:

12″:

A couple of nights ago, I charted out a plan. Now, I only have to make 17 more 6 inch blocks, 5 more 12 blocks, 35  4 inch pinwheel blocks, and cut out 100 2 inch squares. I should be able to do that in a weekend or two. (NOT!) I have split my plan into 5 sections. I will be piecing and quilting each section separately and then joining them together to make a 56″x70″ quilt. I may or may not add borders. I’ll see when I get to that point.  This actually may take me a year or two to actually finish, since I need to get Elaine’s wedding quilt done first!

One last photo to show you. I was at my favorite thrift store last week and happened upon this bag of hexagons:

I couldn’t resist and bought the bag for $3 or $4. I had fun going through them and trying to find a date on the papers. I finally found one that placed the age at 1995. I had been guessing late 80’s, early 90’s by the UGLY colors and calico prints. Lots and Lots of mauve and blue. Wasn’t it called dusky blue or some such?

So, you ask, what will you do with them? Truthfully, I don’t know. Maybe see if one of my hexagon piecing suckers, I mean, friends, wants them. Maybe I’ll get a pretty box, stack them carefully inside, and put them up in the attic for someone to find 30 years from now. Maybe by then these will be considered “vintage” and in style again!
